Ethernet cable length ....

    Is there any restriction on the maximum length an Ethernet cable can be ..... :confused: .... i.e. would up to 50 feet (15mtrs ) be ok ? ....:cool:

    90 meters is the maximum recommended distance for cat5/e not sure if its the same for cat6 and so on....

    Yup 90 MTRS anything more you have to use repeaters etc but you will be fine. Just watch that you dont run it Parallel to mains cables!

    watch out for kinks and sharp turns too. no coiling or small bend radius etc etc

    if you need to cross it over a power line, do it perpendicular rather than diagonally or in line.

    i think the length for cat6 is a bit lower if i remember correctly

    You are allowed 10m of patch cable too.

    Though IIRC you shouldn't use more than 20m of patch cable even if the backbone is shorter.

    Can't remember if CAT6 allows longer lengths, it does allow more connectors en route
