Rumoured Sky+ announcement tomorrow

I can't vouch for reliability, but someone on another forum (yeah, I know, someone who knows someone...) has heard that Sky will be making an announcement about Sky+ as part of interm results. When HD launches, Sky+ will be given free to subscribers like the ordinary box is now. HD will be replacing + as the premium box you have to pay for.

Could be a load of nonsense, but I thought I'd just throw it out there. And we should know tomorrow if it is true.

well if thats the case i want my sky sub for free or either swap it for a HD box, they should entertain customer loyalty.

So do you mean they are getting rid of the whole just a normal sat receiver or making that the really basic that sky plus is the normal

This rumour was floating about last year too. I would prefer if they dropped the €15 premium to use the plus features.

The €15 premium is only for cheap skates on the lowest triers.

I'd rather not pay for Sky Sports or Sky Movies when I have no interest in the former and no need for the latter.

Did you not get an offer when you subscribed for the first time? People mostly seem to complain about new subscribers getting offers while they get nothing, but are forgetting that they got offers when they were new too.

Making it the "default box" less than two months after having designed a new common-design Sky Digibox? Wouldn't be a great move...

I don't think there was any suggestion that it would be made the default box.

No had to pay for everything €300 for the box and €15 pm extra, then they announced that having a premium package would result in the fee being waivered a couple of months later.

I assume thats what you mean?

Maybe we don't all want the premium channels?

You may be happy enough paying for them and watching them, but I don't really want them. And if I wanted any, it would only be one, Sky Sports 1.

As for the newly-designed digibox, that'll still have its uses in MultiRoom installs. Sky might think it'll look "cooler" in kids bedrooms/playrooms.

I hope its true, but somehow I cant see Sky giving away something we had to pay for up to now. But maybe....!

Well if sky + becomes free why would anyone bother with the basic box?

It happened before, sky at one time charged for the now free box.

Looks like the rumour wasn't true then. The results are out, but no mention of anything like this. Just stuff like higher basic, + and Multiroom subscribers and a lower churn.
