I got this email from the Merrion last night.

    €1,000,000

    Guaranteed

Yes folks that’s correct, ONE MILLION EURO is the guaranteed prize pool for the main event of The Irish Open 2006 (April 14th – 17th.)

PaddyPowerpoker.com continue their sponsorship of the event.

For the next 10 weeks the winner of the NEW Tuesday night tournament which is now a €150 + €10 FREEZE- OUT will win an entry into a 10 seat (one table) satellite of which the winner will win an entry into the Irish Open main event.

In addition, all players registered into the Tuesday night tournament for the next 10 weeks will be entered into a draw on the night and the lucky player drawn will also win an entry into a 10 seat (one table) satellite of which the winner will win an entry into the Irish Open main event.

Okay so you all know about Tuesday nights, now I’m gonna tell you about Wednesdays and Fridays. For the next 10 weeks the winner of the Wednesday and Friday tournaments will win an entry into a 10 seat (one table) satellite of which the winner will win an entry into the €400 No Limit Hold’Em event at The Irish Open on April 14th.

In addition, all players registered into the Wednesday and Friday night tournaments for the next 10 weeks will be entered into a draw on the night and the lucky player drawn will also win an entry into a 10 seat (one table) satellite of which the winner will win an entry into the €400 No Limit Hold’Em event at The Irish Open on April 14th.

It’s all to be played for and you all know the saying

‘You can’t win it if you’re not in it’

The one table satellite play off’s will be held the week prior to the Festival.

    Promotions start Tuesday 31st January.

The entry fee for the main event €3000 + €200 registration fee and will be held run over three days.

    See you at the tables

Is the entry into the single table tourney an extra prize on top of the prize fund for Tuesday night?

I thought it would have been better to give a ticket to the Irish open to the winner on each Tuesday night from the prize fund?

there wouldn't be enough money from the tuesday tournament to give an entry to the Irish open...

...i'd say the online qualifiers are a better bet...

We're bound to get used to having the new announcements forum but until then (a year?) I will keep moving the specific threads. No offence is intended in this. I appreciate folks are trying to keep us informed but we have the sub forum and we have to get used to using it.
