Sound crackle using yamaha cdc585 amp

Hi, wondering if anyone can help with a sound crackle while playing music CD's. I have a pioneer audio/video vsx-d510 linked in with a yamaha cdc585 amp. I've tried all the obvious - different CD's, gone thru all the menu settings. Has anyone ever heard (bad pun!!) of this problem with either the pioneer or yamaha ?
