I made a fleeting visit to Sligo on work related stuff last Friday/Saturday.Hadn't been there for a very long time. It's really scenic countryside and somewhere I intend to return to for a long weekend and get a lot of photography done. I did get a chance to visit Glencar Waterfall which is actually just across the border in County Leitrim. Beautiful peaceful place and at 8.30 last Saturday morning mercifully free of tourists. I was able to set up my 20D and tripod to get the attached long exposure shot (about 1 sec) without any disturbance.

Glencar is a nice spot alright, I've been up there a few times. You should try to get up to Carrowroe passage tombs, Hazelwood and to the fairly nearby Lough Key Forest Park in Co. Roscommon. Hopefully I'll be getting back up that way in the next week or so and might head up into Donegal.

Nice photo btw, some more of Glencar waterfall here -> http://www.flickr.com/photos/rymus/sets/620465/

Really nice shots of Glencar! Clearly, the green foliage of spring/summer makes a big difference. Reason enough to re-visit. Thanks for the other location tips.

Coincidentally I was up there earlier this month for the first time, I didn't make it to the waterfall but the lake was looking great and I took this shot

Wow - very nice, didn't know of this waterfall to be honest. The exposure you have is perfect, the only thing I'm not liking is the lighting - seems quite dull and lifeless. The composition is fairly spot on, a little clutter at the top of the waterfall but nothing short of a saw can sort that out! If you had the right lighting you might have ended up with colours like the great shot just above my post, and you'd be on to a winner! Just unlucky I guess...
