Hi guys, I'm looking to upgrade and need your help. ;)

Ok, so I got bored with my noisy rig a while back so I stripped it down and bought a Shuttle SN25P case, stuck in an AMD 64 3500+, a gig of Crucial Ballistix ram, and a 6600GT. It's been running pretty sweet but I think it's time for an upgrade to assist with my DoD Source and other FPS addiction. :v:

So... I've been looking at getting an X2 proc, a 7800gt and 2 gigs of RAM but would like some help on which would be the best options for these and any ideas how hot this would run? One of my major worries is the I.C.E cooling system used in the Shuttle(will it keep everything cool enough?) because I really don't wanna go back to that noisy rig now, hehe.

I have just bought a 7800GTX and shuttle compliant it is not !! First off it needs two of yer standard hard drive power connectors to feed it. Its also extra long ( I have it installed in a HTPC case from Silverstone ) and it is too long to clear the hard drive bays ,no way would this animal fit into a shuttle , I had to do some creative re positioning of everything in the case to get it to fit.
Id say if you want this card , you have to ditch the shuttle , go back to a tower and install some water cooling to keep the noise down.

Any ideas if the situation would be the same with a 7800GT and not the GTX?

    What about trying a lower-powered 6800GS?
    Just saw a re-review on Anand; 220W @load, ±67C, very playable.
Might also be able to find a dual-core skt939 Opteron for similar price.

I'm also guessing you'll be selling your current Gb RAM;)

heh, I checked out some Shuttle forums and the 7800GTX shouldn't have any problems in my Shuttle XPC SN25P case, nor should I have any heat issues.(fingers crossed either way:))

I went with these from komplett:
    XFX GeForce 7800GTX 256MB GDDR3 eXtreme
    Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2 DDR-DIMM 2048MB Kit
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.2GHz Socket 939, 2MB

Hope it works out for you , mine is running on an Nforce 4 motherboard with a X2 3800 processor , the manual for the motherboard says the system with a X2 processor needs a minimum of 400W for stable operation and with any more than 1 large hard drive it would struggle , I see the SN25 shuttle case from komplett ships with a 350W power supply which would be below spec !! Keep your eye on this , and good luck with the build.
