Right , mate has €1500 to spend on a desk top and he wants to buy new and pre built .

Seen as how I buy second hand here and build it myself I really haven't a clue beyond Dell . Any that he has asked me about I say , " yeah , it has this this and this but it is missing that ", ( 'that' usually being a graphics card of any note ) .

So , does anyone have any ideas ?

Uses of said pc would be , home/office , with games thrown in . Doesn't need printer scanner type thingy as he already has these .Yeah , i know I am setting ye a tough task , but I have every faith in ye .

    John

Whatever you do, don't get a NorthQ PSU!!

Also, AMD better for games, Intel better for video encoding. Something to keep in mind.

    And GeForce 6200TC BLOWS!!

    I'd say:

Go Dell, buy from the factory outlet, get at least 1gb of ram.... and probably a dimesnion system.

You should be able to get a decent pc, with a 2005 20inch widescreen flatpanel monitor, from the factory outlet, for < €1500 inc VAT & Delivery. You could probably save €500 off the list price... and the list price would be a good one by itself.

For example, at €1457 inc VAT / Delivery / 3 year onsite warranty:

    Dell Dimension 9150
    Pentium D 830 - DualCore 3Ghz
Operating System: Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition
    Memory: 1024MB DDR2 400 [2*512]
Hard Disk Drive: 160GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
Video: ATI Radeon X600 256MB HyperMemory
Modem: V.92 Modem Data/Fax/Voice PCI UK
    DVD Drive: 16 X DVD +/- RW
Software: English - Adobe Reader 6.0
    Microsoft® Works® 7.0
    Image Restore Utility
    Dell Media Experience 3.0
    Dell Support 3.0
MISC: Dell Enhanced USB Multimedia Kybd
Dell 2 Button USB Scroll Entry Mouse
English - Doc with UK Power Cord
Paint Shop Picture Studio 1.01 - trial version
Photo Shop Photo Album (5.22) - trial version

with a 2005 FPW FlatPanel, widescreen monitor.

Thats a good deal, a great monitor and a sensible buy.
