Tax Relief on Bus Tickets

A colleague of mine was asking me about tax relief on CIE/Connext tickets for dependents. I told him that they only apply to the individual, that is, I must buy one for myself, and claim back the cost against my tax.

Is anyone aware of any facility whereby, for example, you can buy a ticket for your child who is a student, and the tax man allow you claim back the cost against your tax for the year?
I'd imagine there must be, after all how many students are there in the country, and surely as many of them use public transport, there must be some facility! It would cut down on student costs, whilst providing a tax benefit to the parent, and making more bus routes financially viable if more and more students take public transport as a result.
I'm sure parents can pay college fees and claim them back against tax!

As I understand the tax scheme applies only to relief at source. Inquire with the revenue
