    The Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI) at the University of Innsbruck, Austria and the National University of Ireland, Galway, is seeking candidates for the following positions:

    Senior Technician (Linux Specialist) at the National University of Ireland, Galway, Digital Enterprise Research Institute

    The post of Senior Technician (Linux Specialist) will report directly to the Head of Information Technology Services and work collaboratively with other members of the team to provide a well planned, expertly supported, secure and productive environment focused on enabling the Digital Enterprise Research Institute to excel.

    This post is charged with planning, deploying and maintaining Linux based systems based on best practices. Direct support of production and research systems is required including documentation and following effective change management procedures. This person will work on both physical and virtual systems and is required to maintain tracking and maintenance details of both. This post will provide planning, deployment, and maintenance of services hosted on production Linux systems and support for applications on researcher managed Linux systems. The coordination of hardware maintenance and procurement of equipment will also be the responsibility of this post.

    Other duties include, but are not limited to, maintenance of backups, shared responsibility for new hires and guests, support for externally hosted conferences and meetings, and cooperative teamwork with members of the IT team to assist on major projects or during absences to ensure continued superior support. DERI research is conducted world-wide and at various times of the day which may require the technical positions to provide support services outside of normal University business hours. The technical post must be able to accommodate flexible working schedules.
