What res were you playing bf2 at before? If your new samsung is a 19" monitor and resolution in bf2 is set to higher than 1280 x 1024 thats probably your problem. Maybe hook up your old monitor and change the res?

Everytime you change monitor you need to delete your profiles as they contain the info regarding the old monitor. BF2 expects the old one, isn't finding it and shuts down.

Just get rid of /mydocs/bf2/profiles/, restart and retrive your account (make sure you know ther password).

Copy the controls.con file first though if you have custom controls configured and general.con if you don't want to have to listen to the tutorial voice over and over again.

As youcancallme>al said, it's a resolution problem but I can't remember the one file to delete in order to fix it....

Actually, maybe you just need to delete the files in.

    \\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

Try that first before you get rid of the entire profiles dir.

I went back to my crt which was playing bf2 @ 120 hz,changed to 60hz went back to new lcd and she booted up then just whacked it up to max again ,all sorted now :)

    Nice one ;)
Thats the problem then, theres no way your new flatscreen monitor could support 120Hz refresh rate

Most lcd monitors are designed to handle an input of 60hz or 72hz. The low refresh rates have no real effect, since LCD's don't "refresh" like a CRT does anyway - when the image on an LCD screen changes, the appropriate pixels change to the necessary colour/intensity/whatever and stay that way until the image changes again. A CRT screen will flicker several times a second (equal to the refresh rate) to keep the picture up to date.
The only effect I experience from this on an LCD is a bit of tearing when vsync is turned off, which can be solved by limiting your framerate to 60fps, if using 60hz.
