Is there anywhere in Dublin that has a PL or NL holdem ring game - with small blinds; €1 big blind? And don't day the fitz - the game invariable turns into a round of each.

There are always several Holdem only games going on there too on any given night, totally seperate from the round of each.

You mustn't have tried the Fitz too often if you don't know that. Any card room will have Holdem only games going (well I know the SE does, can't speak for the Merrion as I have never been).

Oh, sorry. I've never noticed them. I'm not there much. Was there in the €50 max buyin game on Sunday and didn't notice one.
They are cash games right, not tournaments? Do you know what the blinds are.

The Holdem cash games usually start at around 10pm. The antes are 1-2. PL all the way. Tournaments start at 8.30 (ish) and the cash games usually kick off when enough early leavers, and people who turn up just for the cash are there. On a weekend night there will be at least 3 holdem only games by midnight. There was even 3 tonight (Sunday).

Oh righty, thanks. Was always under the impression they were a round of each.
Don't suppose you know if there are any smaller games around?

The Fitz has a €50 max game that starts about 5pm on saturdays.

It is round of each though. The €50 holdem only is not usually a big game, could just as easily be €1-€1 as €1-€2.

How small so you want the games to be? the 25 min games in the merrion on a monday are quite small. nearly half the players sit down with the minimum (which coincidentally is a really bad idea).
Don't play these games unless you have decent tank though.

Ive only played MTT's in the fitz but would really be interested in playing ring games its just everytime im there, theres always a PL Omaha game going on but every player seems to have a mountain of black chips which i think are equivalent to €100. This is somewhat intimidating and id be only willing to spend €100-150 at each sitting.
So just wondering if theres a min or max buy-in within my range?
Also the charge seems expensive €7.50 or €11.50 per person an hour. You could have 8-9 people around the table and when you minus the dealers wages the house is making a tidy profit.

In any of the Fitz games I would recommend not sitting down with less than 250, but in the holdem, and round of each especially people often sit down with <150. I used to put half/third of my potential spend for the night out and try to play that, then if I lost, go back for another bit, but this leaves you in no position to use a bet to frighten someone off a pot unless you win a couple of decent hands early. Now I sit down with the whole lot at once and find that is not an excuse now.

Moral of the story, whatever you are intending as your max spend, I recommend starting with it.

    Two quick comments.
    1. Dealers work for tips and aren't paid to deal the cash games.
    2. How do you think the card clubs run the multis so cheap if they didn't make some money of the cash games? MTTs are a loss leader.

    Ok.

    So is this whats available:

Fitz: Mon - Fri €1-2 PL
Thurs (night) Sat & Sun (Afternoon) €.50-1 PL

    Merrion:
    Mon & Thurs €.50-1 PL

All Holdem only. Is this right?

I'm looking for a game with €1 big blind holdem only. Anything else is too big for me. And as far as I can figure you'd need a massive bankroll to play in games with omaha. It seems you can play alot of hands perfectly but still come off a big looser with a very small bit of bad luck.
