Can this be done? Xbox+Netopia (used as bridge)

    I have the following setup:
NTL Cable broadband + Netgear wireless router + 1 desktop connected on the Netgear w/ CAT5 + 1 laptop connected on the Netgear w/ wireless.

I also have an Xbox that I am using as a media centre PC and a Netopia wireless router.

My question is, can I use the Netopia router as an AP or just a wireless bridge, to connect the Xbox on the network? The Xbox is on another floor and cannot connect on the Netgear w/ a cable.

The Netgear and the laptop currently have an adhoc connection, w/ WEP 128-bit protection, MAC filters and hidden SSID.
I configured the Netopia router to have DHCP disabled, gave static IP from Netgear's range, gave same SSID/Channel, but it will not connect...

Any suggestions? I am currently considering selling the Netopia router and buy a dedicated wireless bridge, or a cheap access point.
