Yes it's true, I can't deny it anymore! I fallen big time, I wasnt expecting it, it just kinda happened......................for cash games that is!!:p

Up until this month I've been 99% tournament player but times are a changin. I've found the old buzz again from back when I started playing online poker. I feel as though I'm on the learning trail again and man has it brought my interest/love of this game back with a bang.

You see over the past few months I've found myself gettin a bit tired of the game, like I needed to change it up a bit. I've been playin tourneys non stop. I'm not sure why I haven't ventured into omaha etc but i think its simply down to me feeling ive still a lot more to learn and achieve in NL Holdem.

So I've ventured onto the cash tables for the month, mainly down to reading stories on here from Nicky, Hector and Mike's blog, and for now anyway i've loved every minute of it so far. Can't seem to drag myself away from them. The concentration levels and focus is back like before and its as though i've found a whole new lease to my 'poker' life and so far so good profit wise.

I've learned a hell of a lot over the last few weeks and I think its improved my game ten fold so long may it last!

Just a few thoughts to share with the board. I'd be interested to hear any cash games tips any of you more 'experienced' cash game players have to share but to be honest I think just gettin in there and gettin your hands dirty is the way forward.

Good luck to you all, hope you enjoyed the post!;)

Good post I'd be very similiar... playing only stt/mtt until recently.
I've become more deciplined and selective with the hands I start with in cash games i.e. chuck Ace rag and ****e hands like K9/Q9/J8 unless of course they are sooooted.:D

    P.s. wot:eek: cant say s h i t e:p

Best of luck to you with it, it'll make a man out of ya, any donk can push chips in the middle in a tourny, in cash games it takes either a real player or a superdonk! :)

    thanks for the replies lads!

Yeah, ive been amazed at the amount of players that come along and donate 30-40 dollars to the table. They are happy to lose it and we're happy to take it, everyones a winner:D .

Its a great feeling to be able to recover and recoup any loses from a suck outs. Ive posted a couple of hands in the bad beat section both in the space of an hour, the buzz of that hour was unreal and ive had a few sessions like that.

Just today I sat down and fell twice to 2 outers on the river, maintained my composure and went away doubling my stack in 90 mins by slowly playing my stack up. My biggest session loss to date has been around 50% of the buy in. Im playing .50/1 by the way in case the numbers mean something to you.

I've been off the gargle this month so that could explain the good focus levels haha, we'll see how the results go next month:rolleyes:

    Cheers

I dont know how people solely play tournaments, the play seems so one dimensional and boring in comparison to cash games. Ive pretty much given up playing tournaments except for the occasional bigish one if I feel like gambling.

Since switching to cash games I havent had a losing week, which I think really helps me cope with playing for a living.

yeah this makes me wonder why I've been so closed minded. I think maybe it was the fear of moving away from something ive been good at and made money at i.e. why break whats not broken. This was totally the wrong way to think, but I did it unknown to myself. I just got stuck in a rut i suppose and didnt bother looking at anything other than tourneys.

Havin a blast again now and as i've said the whole 'new' excitement buzz is back and its helping my game big time.

the post probably seems a bit silly to most reading it but its probably reality for a lot of players out there. they just log on and play stt or mtts as they want to get 'value' for their money, value being time played on the table and not profit as they see cash games as a way to lose money in one hand so the skill set is limited.

    Just my personal thoughts anyway.

You've huge experience in cash games hector so any tips on sites to play or anything general related to playing cash are greatly appreciated,:D pm me;)

    All the best

Hector, when I was a lurker here 9 months ago, I got the idea that you were an (almost) exclusively STT player (I remember you referring to playing to 30+ a day). I remember following you as an observer in a few of your $25 STTs on Tribeca. (Dont worry, I'm not a stalker!)
What made you give up, was it the sheer grind of them?, or did you reach a stake-level where the edge of ability/knowledge that you had wasnt enough to cover the 10% rake, and thus it becomes impossible to sustain a win-rate.
If the latter, at what level did you give them up?

I got bored of them! I found it quite stressfull constantly being aware of bubbling. I played 50's for a while then moved to cash games.
