What do you think of breakdancing in nightclubs? Are they total posers, showoffs taking it too far? Sometimes i breakdance in nightclubs. Am i a queer? I think i will continue to do it nonetheless, regardless of what you say. I am just interested in your opinions.

I'd burst out laughing to be honest, especially If I was drunk. That's just me though. Id say youd get a fair amount of stick for doing that in Dublin, and it takes up a lot of space as well.

I'd just walk past them tbh. Less attention they get the better.

    Am i a queer?

Quite possibly. But why speculate? Stab your love length in some lads shizer and see if you enjoy it.

I thought breakdancing was an eighties thing? Is it back? Do white Irish guys do it now? LOL. It was sad in the 80s. It's tragic now :o

Go for it, I'd rather see break dancing than the kind of flailing-bouncy-retard-fit that passes for dancing in most places.
Put them to shame... serve as many of them as you can.
Just ask to be let out the back when you're done.

This reminds me of Halloween out in a club in town... Sitting beside the dancefloor and this group of Ashton Kutcher lookalikes shimmy onto the scene.. One knocks back the remainder of my bfs pint.. strikes some sort of Madonna-esque vogue face framing move and breakdances off onto the dancefloor.. We both nearly fell off our stools laughing.. (Could have been the mexican truffles we had sampled earlier in the night) but the funniest thing Iv seen in a long time..

    :D:D:D

Hey i gots some new moves for our **** man, i got the Harlem Shuffle, kinda updated to a more street level vibe,

smack floor with hands butt comes up & butt down
    butt up &
    hold & look left (front)
    butt up
lay flat on floor arms come up above head
    sit up legs apart
    pop up
    stand look left (front)
collapse on left leg throw rigth arm (back arm) forward
feet should width apart (2nd position) facing back right arm thrown to right
    right arm thrown to left
slide around going right to face the front arms open to "T" &
    bounce
italian "i love you" with right arm
    butt move back
    "throw" butt forward

i know a guy who usually ends up doing some sort of breakdancing moves at parties - big circle of people around the dance floor, him in middle. in fairness, he's very good and a lot of people encourage him but after a while the rest of us just want the dance floor back!

I went to the gaelteacht with a guy from california who could break dance and he was deadly but he'd been doing it for years

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,025 ✭✭✭slipss

I used to do it when I was really really pissed usually in a field beside a bonfire, but just for a laugh, I never thought I was any good at it, seen a few ppl doing it in philidelphia a few years ago, they were ****ing deadly. But if you are a 19 year old white spotty Donnybrook eminem wanna be, I swear to ****ing god, u are the equivelent of a drunken 55 year old uncle singing dancing queen at the top of his voice at a wedding. Just face it you have no rythm or soul, and you should all be locked into a camp somewhere and left there. Same geos for insecure posh dublin four girls trying to dance like beyonce or j.lo, just trust me on this, you just can't do it.

yeah man, we need some mother earth dynamics here yo....when the Triple-Threat of Taker Of Pills, Waylan (me) + dub 13 are laying down some serious FONK manouveres we need some chick stylez to bring it back from the edge of the envelope and take it to the next level....

dance man, its like life....when it throws you an inverted heel spin you got to smack that bitch down with a swan stance and a jazz hand.

    STYLIN!

Breakdancing in nightclubs is like summer school.

    Not cool!

we've all been breaking in clubs for a while now and it always has a good response. But its not that bullsh1t drunks trying to imitate breaking or that Wade Robinson hiphop crap.
We've all been training for 4-5 years and do shows and competitions. There's few things that would be more impressive than seeing people doing Flares or Headspins or crispy footwork to freezes in a club, all on beat! We were in Ri-Ra ~(the most bboy friendly club in Dublin) last friday and there was loads of proper breaking going on, and the response it got from the crowd was unreal!

I'd love to breakdance, but I'd be a bit afraid of spillin drink, or dirtying me new jeans, or lookin queer, or making an effort, or being a hero to millions of kids, or finding rhythm, or having to talk to other muppets who breakdance too, or being accused of trying too hard (whats wrong with dancing on the spot with minimal hand/arm movement?!)... can you see where I'm heading? :v:

Besides, the insurance costs would be through the roof

Used to do it when younger but obviously wouldnt think of it in a nightclub but why not. If you don't like, don't watch and move on although might be bit irritating in a confined space. Most people you see out can't dance anyway and it's far more of an embarrassment to see some loved-up gormless fat c8unt gyrating around a group of hapless women.

You should check out some Northern Soul nights, esp in UK. WHile not breakdance, there are some great movers.

If you can do it, go ahead! Theres no doubting people respect a quality breakdancer, its a talent.

Unfortunately the best I can manage is a 360 degree arse spin, the rest of mine is ****e so I wouldnt even attempt it.

*pulls up his pants, does the rockaway and leans back*

I personally do not have a problem with them, i find it interesting especially those far out moves. But i would never do it in a nightclub if i could break dance i think i would be too scared i would get laughed out.
