    Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone can reccomend a good way to get an idea of using a Mac. A few of my mates have converted over the past few years and swear blindly that they will never go to Windows. Having said that I cannot wait to get my hands on a MacBook for dual boot. I think Mac's are brilliant its just Im so used to using windows and Linux just melts my head. I was just wondering is there any way I can get a good feel for a Mac before shelling out on Mac hardware or a MacBook.

Well, you could just go over to your mates' house(s) and try it out for a few hours ;)
Honestly though, a lot (if not most) Mac users converted from Windows anyway; so you can see that there's not too much of a learning curve -- in fact, the biggest changes I found were using CMD (ALT on normal keyboards) instead of CTRL, and switching " with . Now, whenever I use a Windows machine, I have to take 2mins to get reaquainted! :D

Does an iMac have a standard VGA connector or is it a DVI connector for the monitors?

I don't think it's possible to run Windows in that way on the new macs. I imagine a new version of Virtual PC would make windows emulation run well though.

Well there are problems with XP and EFI but its only a matter of time before thats sorted out by Apple or hacked. There is already several competitions to anyone who can Dual Book Mac OS X and Linux on the MacBook. It may take some time to stabalise but pretty soon its gonna be sweet.

I did get offered an amazing deal on a 17" PowerBook but I dunno if I want to shell out a huge amount of cash for something Im not really sold on yet.

why would you want to run windows? Why? please tell me? why? Part of the point point of a mac is you never have to touch that bullsh1t again.

Because Im comfortable with Windows and I can be more porductive on a system that Im familiar with. I plan moving from Windows to Linux over the next 6 months and then getting a PowerMac.
