Hi all, I would like to get myself a twin propelled chopper, something I've always wanted to do. Would anyone have any advice and where to go, what to get and costs? Thanks all

Which do you mean (by twin propelled heli) ?

    the normal configuration:
    titanedk.jpg
main rotor overhead, and smaller rotor at tail facing sideways

or the Chinook "heavy lift" configuration:
    tandem1.jpg
main overhead front rotor and similar 2nd overhead rotor at rear

    Or the "toy" chopper" type:
    6600035.jpg
contra rotating overhead rotors one above the other....

There is a fair bit of info here which may also help weigh up different ways of doing it...liquid glowfuel engine vs electric engine; smaller vs bigger; availability of parts; & so on...

Also a video clip of a medium size electric heli here along with other video clips.

Of course you should also look at the General Guide Thread which has good links and more info....go to the bottom and look for the "learn to fly helis" links...

I did always fancy the twin overhead system but have never operated one. Would you recommend this, I do have a lot of space (100acres approx)

For indoors use (rainy day...after dark, etc) favour the conventional (top pic) or the twin contra overhead rotor (bottom pic).
For indoors or outdoors under 1 acre, I would only consider electric in the conventional shape (top pic)
For outdoors use in 2-5 acres, open exposed to wind places, consider the conventional type (top pic) with glowfuel (piston) engine with no less than a .46 engine size, predferably a .50 or .60 eingine size.

If you mean the twin rotor eg Chinook heli, this is mega expensive in glowfuel, and electric is the only sensible option, but it costs more than a single main rotor system. Therefore breakages in practise cost more, making it most suitable for someone who already can fly helis.
