Following the bombings over in London the first responders had a problem IDing some of the victims. Following on from this they started the ICE campaign.
Basically everybody, all of us, put an entry in our mobile phones labelled ICE.

The number is for your next of kin, whoever you'd want notified In Case of Emergency. It saves the response team going through your phone looking for numbers and it saves your significant others the pain of wondering what's happened to you. I know this is a bit morbid, but I'd prefer my wife get a call from Paramedics than hear about any accident involving myself on the radio bulletin.

I dunno how common this is yet, but it's another small thing we can do to help ourselves and rescue teams if anything goes wrong.

Add Contact--ICE (In Case of Emergency) and a number for somebody you'd want contacted if you were hurt and unable to call yourself. Small steps to make a big difference.
