    Hi Guys

    I have a HP M 1070 media center pc.
The problem is the CPU fan which is noisey, when I brought the pc I had to put more thermal paste on because there was not much on it which helped.

When I upgraded the fan the system would not start as it said the cpu fan was not working.
It was, but the cooler was so good that it did not need the fan running as much as the standard hp one.
The hp has built in detection for the fan speed.
Is there any way of changing this so the computer will shut down when the cpu gets to hot instead of the cpu fan speed not being at the right speed.
There is no setting in the bios to turn this off and hp are about as much help as a chocolate kettle

Hackey temp solution: get one of those fan speed controlers, jack the fan speed up to get your pc booting.

Then see how much you can turn it down.

After that, hope you can change the settings in the bios or change the bios on the mobo with something compatible....

    best of luck.

wow, you're the first guy I've met that wants his computer to shut down instead of fans cooling the cpu :/

Have you tried Motherboard monitor program? I'm not sure but it must have that option.
