Excuse my ignorance on this but I need the info....

I had Sky service about a year ago and cut it off cos it wasn't getting used. I still have all the equipment, the dish, the box, the cabling, so its all still there, just the card and subscription are gone. What I need to know is is there some way to pick up the free sat stations on this as is, or do I need any extra gear, or whats the crack?

I have absolutely no idea about this stuff so any help is appreicated....

your system will still work for a lot of channels.
anything that broadcasts free to air.
    that includes BBC1234 and ITV1234
here's a list of what you will get
stick in a Tesco Clubcard or any card and switch on.

you can get a UK card to add CH4 Five and Sky3.

A Tesco clubcard? Your extracting the urine....

The old subscription card (UK) is still in it, so hopefully that should do it....

What about the other birds? Do I have to switch the dish around to pick them up, is it one bird at a time kind of thing?

No the Tesco Clubcard is true.

You said you had no card. now you have one.
    just turn it upside down.
if it's a UK card you might be in luck for 4 and 5

other birds don't work well on digibox.

Any Irish card expired or not will BLOCK BBC and UTV from the EPG !
So an old subs card is worse than nothing when it comes to FTA stations. - Don't forget you can ring up and sign up for one month and cancel again any time so hang on to the card.

Yes you would have to point the dish at another satellite to see it.
BUT you would have to add each channel manually and it would loose them every few months and it won't see lots of them becuse of signal rate andyou would have to change channels by going to services other channels and use arrows to navigate and then press yellow button . This is because SKY want to lock you in. A second hand FTA box would be a much better prospect.

OK you don't need any other card. It will do all the Free channels.

If you leave it running 24 hrs it may also do C4, Five and Sky3 (they are Free to View, work on a cancelled UK sub, or a UK FTV card).

For a box that has seen an IRISH card, yes, really any old card makes it think it has a broken UK card and it switches from the Irish EPG (missing many FTA channels) to the UK EPG.
