Divx Lag

Hi Lads

Lately I have noticed that any of the divx's that i get my hands on seem to suffer form audio and video lag.... thats including some that were perfert before, has any one else noticed this.

I have ruled out my Anti Virus , My Gfx card and most other things i can think of
was it a microsoft update....anyone any idea's

Happens me as well. Theres nothing wrong with the video you have. Download divxplayer and it should play them fine.

Usually a reboot fixed media player for me anyway. I've only noticed the problem in the last 4-6months and have never tried to fix it as DivXPlayer works fine.

Yeah ..i'm seeing the same problem..however if you stop the divx and restart it from the part where it was lagging if seems to work fine for another 10 -15mins before starting the lag again

When playing on the pc usually never a problem but when using my philips dvp630 can happen. ITs certified to play divx but because some people encode using an xvid complier(which is un certified as far as I am aware) there is no guarantee it will work perfectly. IF its a movie I really want to watch I run it through Dr-Divx which is a bit of a pain as it takes of average 3-5hrs for a 700mb movie. I think the only way forward is either HTPC or a modded Xbox

I find winamp stutters a lot more than media player for some reason.. and divxplayer is even better than both.. so if you've a low end machine go with that (and turn off AV on-access scanning for divx files if you like).

yeah ...i know what your saying Kali..but the system is

a p4 3.6g ,2gigram and 7800gtx pcie card so..i dont really understand why its happening..


I suppose it could be the tv shows (divxs) in question as well?;)

Just download the latest codec pack off a p2p site. Definitely sounds like a codec problem. On the pvp, you probably just need to update the firmware...

When you have the proper codecs, windows media player is the best. Winamp and Divx player are not as smooth as media player (and i dont like microsoft).

Xvids are actually better than Divx in my opinion, or atleast currently encoded films in Xvid look as near to dvd as you can get right now.

Sounds like a codec problem. What codec package/how old is it?

just updated all my xvid codecs and it seemed to sort everything out.

installed the following : xvid1 , Xvid_04102002-1,


Waiting hard on prison break to come back on in the states now
