Dell OS Recovery CD

I have an Inspiron 6000 which did not come with a Windows XP CD. I've been reading around and the "Dell OS Recovery Utility" seems to be the one to use to create a Windows XP disk.

My question is, is this created disk for all intents and purposes the same as a normal retail Windows XP CD. In other words if I format the C: drive and remove Dells hidden partitions(might leave the small diagnostic one because it takes up very little space....advise??) will this disk allow me to perform a completely clean install of XP on this drive and also could I use this CD to install XP on a brand new hard drive i.e. not just repair XP.

Also I've never partitioned a drive before, approximately what size partition should I create for Windows XP? Any other additional partitioning advice(number and size) would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
