    Hey All,

Inspired by the debate on the ROTR thread I want to get people's opinions on what would be considered spoilers and what to do with them.

Is it a spoiler before the event is aired, either on Bravo or -as Clive so excellently put it - Radio Teilifis Illegal Internet Download?

Is it a spoiler before it's DVD release?

Should we delete all spoileres, or just have spoiler warnings over particular posts or threads.

Submit your opinions and I'll make a ruling by Tuesday.

    Your Friendly Neighbourhood Mod,
    Colm

Dont know any MMA fans that wait for the DVD. Maybe within two weeks of the event there should be spoiler tags

I think you should include "(Spoiler)" in yout title. The results becom epart of the public domain when they do. It will just depent.

    Peace

If it's going to be shown in Ireland in the very near future e.g. the UFC on Bravo, then there should be a *SPOILER* warning, but not otherwise.

The other option is that you'd have to wait for the DVD, because you can't really say "no posting results without a spoiler warning in the title for up to two weeks after the event - everyone should have illegally downloaded it by then"!

If people don't want results for an event, don't read a thread about it made right after it!

agree with Clive, if the event is being shown shortly, ie within a day or 2 after the event, *Spoiler* warning should be in the thread title, but not after that time.
If people dont want to know, that badly, then why visit a forum and read threads re: the subject you want to avoid?!

Why not learn to use the "Spoiler" tags as used on the "lost" forum over on TV?

Put the results between tags so you have to try to see the spoiler info. It's there but you won't have the fight ruined for you unless your too weak willed to not highlight the result :) And this way no one gets a slap of the Mod. Stick*.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/misc.php?do=bbcode#spoiler

Or if you can't be bothered :)

Square bracket like this [ then type "spoiler" without the quotes! and ] to close. Next put the info. you want to conceal and after it put [/spoiler] and it should look like the example below! To read it just right mouse and drag over the shaded area to "highlight" it and make the info. visible.
    Matt owned Royce

Hope this helps resolve the issue lads ;)

    * Mod. Stick is like a PIMP Stick but less shiny and more Club like

This is my opinion on the situation. If for example, it's UFC and it was aired one day before us in the states and I got the results.. If I seen it before it aired on Bravo and I posted the results, then it's a spoiler. I'll specify it as a spoiler..

But anything that we're going to eventually only see on DVD, then it shouldn't be a spoiler. If you see a thread about it, you should know that people are going to be discussing it and the fights. If you don't want to know the results, just don't read the thread. What else could be we possibly discussing? The referee's hairdo at the event?

Anyways, good idea to address this now rather than later O'Reilly.

Can i just point out that it may also affect other posts? For example, there are many fights i have not seen and i know that i will in the future, does this mean that people need to put spoilers in whenever we are discussing old matches?

When we are talking about who may win this or that we are always harking abck to past fights against different people. The guys here shouldn't have to be careful just because someone else may not be up to speed on all the results!!!

As such i would suggest if any post is just there to talk about a specific event that occured recently, then once it is titled, as the post in question was, then why would you enter it having not seen it?? Surely there will not be taking about anything else in the RUmble on the Rock post? or is that just me.

Maybe we such just tag any thread that people want to talk about recent results in as "Event" , that way people know what will be going on in it, and if you haven't seen it then you simply stay out.

    Yes no?
