What is the difference between "Historic" and "Historical"

Would I say "Kells is a historic town... or "Kells is a historical town"

    Can't get to sleep wonderin:mad:

    Context.

Kells is a historic town. Some of the buildings are old, the culture of the town is old.

The Census Records are historical documents. The data is old, the paper it is printed on need not be old.
