Just about to get setup with Blueface so I need to get my mitts on some DECT phones.

Reckon two would do fine, maybe even just the one. I know I need to get GAP enabled DECT phones - this means I can add any GAP DECT phone in the future and it will be compatible witht the existing base station, right?

Any advice on good makes and models and where to get them, cos I tried Argos catalogue last night, and they have a million and one digital cordless phones, but very very few of these said DECT and/or GAP, and those that did were mainly pricey Philips models.

    Nice one

    Hi Frank,

From memory the Argos catalogue was quite bad in its descriptions. Many more of the models they supply ARE DECT and GAP than they actually list in the catalogue. look up the model numbers on the web to check more detailed spec. See below:-

I remember seeing negative comments on UK VOIP newsgroup about some BT models with regard to Caller ID abilities when connected to an ATA. Problems might have been down to the ATA config though, either way I'd be inclined to steer clear of them.

Powercity prices for models they supply:-

I have a DECT phone from ALDI or Lidl, I've spotted a similar model at the link below.... I had the Cocoon 500, the 510 is at the end of the page below...

we have a pair of Binatone MA 760 bought from Argos for €50 appx. works nicely and perfectly fine with blueface incl caller ID, except it doesn't have backlight. impossible to dial while lying in the bed without any lights on. :D

good to hear those Binatones are alright cos they do seem to be well priced alright.

If it doesn't say DECT and GAP on the box should I assume a phone is not suitable?

i didn't know those Binatone MA 760 are DECT until i looked at Binatone website. i was searching for the details instruction on how to configure caller ID which later on I found out that it had nothing to do with the phone but my ATA regional settings. :D
