Ventrillo / Teamspeak / Skype

Just wondering what everyone use's in your clans or to talk to your buddies

I have tried using the ingame Teamspeak but I found it unreliable it keeps breaking mid sentance

Skype was good for less 4 people or less but it also hogged the Bandwidth a bit and has that annoying feature where to have to minimize your game to let someone in

Ventrillo was nice but but I kept getting echos and even though I had it set with ON all the time, people weren't hearing 50% of what I said, which became quite tiresome after a while

I would presume that when alot of you play in your clan games that Speech would need to be 100% 24/7 so you could react to warnings, commands etc

So what would you consider being the best setup and why ?

IMHO if you're having trouble with both Teamspeak and Ventrillo then you have a problem with your machine that you're not going to fix by finding another chat-type app.

I use BF2 VoIP almost always and teamspeak whenever I need to speak to clans.

ventrilo due to its features and voice quality, there are a lot of different combinations in its options for getting your mic just right.

TiG use Teamspeak and ingame voip if available. We where looking at trying Ventrillo but I coudnt get it to sound any way decent and the free version is limited to just 8 people which is a vit naff.

Yeah so TeamSpeak FTW at the mo.

Used TS for about a year and a half, then moved to Vent when i joined the new clan

Vent has better sound quality, but TS i think has a better interface.
Both are pretty easy to use, but in game comms and response time seems to be better with Vent.

Skype is for phone calls and audio conversation, and although great quality, its not for use in game.

I would go with Vent tbh, it is better overall,

N.B. It tends to crash on some people in BF2 if they have their in game voice comms turned on.

Also, for "TheHairyFairy", i think there is a free version of vent out there that allows up to 20 people or so. I know for a fact we use it in my clan. if you want i can look into it and try get your the server side file and the old client file

1st-IB are TS all the way and so are most other Clans ive delt with. Still a few clans still use Ventrillo. I know the Ice centeral lads used it, but when even i connect to their servre there was no one on. Ive been on TIG`s and GFF`s TS channels. Im not sure what NRG use.

Want to check how the in game voip works...

Howto: join a squad and press apopriat button (default 'b'... or similar)

Or if this is wrong how?
