Retrospect backup software - recommend alternative

Does anybody here use Retrospect to back up their hard drives? I have a Maxtor OneTouch external HD and I've been using the Retrospect Express HD software that came bundled with it. Unfortunatly it's full of bugs, like...

    1) I tried to do a full system restore before - it's supposed to restore everything and your machine will be as it was before. Not so! All my XP settings were screwed up, seems like it make a balls of most of the program settings also.

    2) Last night I tried to make a backup. The backup failed because the external drive was full. When I checked all my restore points were gone! There were 43 restore points before I started the backup!! I managed to find a solution in the Dantz forums but found that I am not the only one having lots of problems with this software. It seems to be riddled with bugs.

So basically I am looking to replace it with something more reliable. What do you guys think?

    Thanks.

Nero 7 has a good backup solution in it's package. I haven't used it yet but I've looked at it and it's pretty comprehensive.

I use norton ghost have found it to be very good at backing up and restoring images.

    http://www.symantecstore.com/dr/v2/ec_Main.Entry17c?V1=765165&PID=765165&PN=1&SP=10023&SID=27685&CUR=826&CID=196236&DSP=&PGRP=0&ABCODE=&CACHE_ID=196236

here is a link to the newest version, 10.0, you also get a cd with ghost 2003 should you have any computers with an older version of windows like 98/ME

Thanks, might give them a try. Have you tried doing a full restore onto a formatted HD? Did it work ok?
