Glad to see that the Council of Europe was able to pass at least a feeble condemnation of the generations of atrocity by Communism yesterday (as reported by the London Times online site. Seems appropriate to remember all this awfulness now that Ireland has fallen into step and is observing "Holocaust Day".

Nothing wrong with that, but why not condemn the attrocities carried out by imperial 'democracies' (including the current ones)?

The likes of Britain condemning other states killing innocent civilians while for years ignoring their own terrorist activities.

Will you be as equally glad when it's proposed to condemn all atrocitys by right-leaning governments around the world TomF? Or indeed all atrocities by screwed up governments, no matter what their colour or shape?

Because only History's losers commit atrocities.

Winners have glorious campaigns, occasional regrettable errant behaviour, and the necessities imposed by this that and the other. They also have History's writers.

That said....at least a start at condemning some sub-set of atrocities has been made. The list can only grow.

It doesn't matter what they condemn. The council is powerless anyway.

    Yeah, but it's just propaganda.

On Sky News the other day they were claiming Galloway was up for futher scrutiny cos someone had found footage of him shaking hands with Saddam's now dead son. This is all about trying to smear his reputation. Otherwise why not show Rumsfeld meeting Saddam and starting asking questions about why the Americans were supporting Saddam (and gladly doing business with him)while he was commiting mass murder that they now have him up on trial for.

It's the same with the council of Europe. Condemn the USSR, china, etc. but ignore France's occupation of Algeria, Britain's of 25% of the world, etc.
