I'm trying to get battlefield working across two of my laptops.

But they won't see each other when i create a local multiplayer game.
On the desktop the network connection is saying limited or no connectivity i'm pretty sure if i get rid of it then it should work but i guess my real problem is i can't get rid of that connection problem.

    How do i fix it?????

did u set them both up with ip addresses???
And more importantly are you using a crossover cable if they attached directly to each other?

Yes how are the 2 laptops connected to gether? It does matter. Cross over or hub/switch/ router or even ad hoc with wireless cards can be done. Things are different depending on how ya are connecting them.

Also, what OSes are you using? XP SP2 doesn't seem to like any other XPs from what I've seen.

    Havnt noticed that problem before.

Okie here we go with getting technical. If you are connecting the two via Ethernet [Cat5 Cable] then you will need a Cross-Over cable. Otherwise they will not be able to see each other. If you are using a switch or a hub then plug the two into that.

Now you need to start assigning IP addresses for each machine. If you have a router with DHCP or a switch with DHCP then it will do this automaticly for you. If not [ie. you do not have any DHCP or are using a direct ethernet connection between the two via a cross over cable] then you will need to manually set the ip's of each machine.

Open the Connections Properties on your Ethernet connection on each machine.

    On Laptop1:
    Set the ip to: 192.168.0.1
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.0.1
    DNS: 192.168.0.1

    On Laptop2:
    ip: 192.168.0.2
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.0.1
    DNS: 192.168.0.1

Reboot both machines and try to see if they can see each other. If they still cant ensure they are both on the same Workgroup. If the above doesnt work then just google for networking Windows XP over crossover cable etc. That worked for me back in the day though.
