I recognise this play. Its the one i make after 2 hours of grinding out profit and see it all wasted by a rush of blood to my head.

With only 2 players limping folding pre flop would have been OK but IMO calling is ok also. Betting out on the flop is fine.

The turn bet is not terrible. You could have been called by AQ, AK or KQ or something of that ilk on the flop. I would possibly say that $8 into $17 will win here 50% of the time making it +EV.

BUT Imho the river call is an absolutely horrible play. Lets look at what could possibly have called you on flop,
    1) any pocket pair
    2)any 7
3)AK, AQ, maybe KQ or AJ
    4)any two hearts

Of these the only possible thing you are beating is two hearts that didnt include a K or J, And AQ.

Whether you won or lost imo its a unjustifiable call. Although its the kind of sh1t i pull when im on tilt. Gettting married to horrible hand.

I'm afraid im betting the flop and the turn. But Im defo not checking on the river. I'd put in a bet first to see where I am, leading the board the whole way across only to check it seems like a sign of weakness hence him coming out betting.
if he raised me im pulling out. but checking the river is not an option here for me.

yes the check on the river was a sign of weakness, which he took to his advantage, if he had the jack he would have re raised me to see where he stood, the pot bet on the river i felt he was just trying to buy it, i used up mine time and decided to call which i felt was an overbet on this hand, sometimes u just get a hunch he/she is bull****ing, where it be how quick he puts it in or the size of the bet. oh yea heres what i called.. hes was drawing but not flushing.

i would be just sick to think of the amount of pots ive lost to this carry on.

i know checking to river is not the right thing to do but sometimes it is. :)

Great call, there and then when the situation mattered. But more often than not im laying this down. but not without making him/her sweat :D

Oh agree sometimes it is when your trying to trap.

But with you leading across the board up until the river it does not come across as a trap. to me your bets seem like your just trying to get him off then the higher card comes on the river and it seems to me like your afraid to bet. Hence him putting in the raise. however that said the amount he puts into the pot is very questionable.

No its not a great call. Its at best a -EV play. At worst its a donkey play. You may as well just use the transfer funds button.

For one thing you call his bet of $32 an overbet. By my calculations he bets $32 into a $31 (plus rake) pot. How is this an overbet. Anything less then this imo on the river is an underbet. Certainly i dont think you could describe betting the pot on the river as an overbet.

Bottom line is a bad play, you got married to bottom pair, all the signs showed u were beaten. U struck lucky. U won. And now ur trying to justify the call to yourself by saying u made a great read. U got 2-1 on ur money to call at the end, u called in a situation where u are winning certainly less then 33% of the time. Probably less then 10-15%
