on the rail front the bad news is there is only 1 morning train leaving 7:01 arrriving Pearse 8:44, punctuality seems quite good. In the evenings its 17:31 (not on Saturdays) and 18:41 from Pearse (both originate in Maynooth)

Alternative could be to drive (decent enough road) and park in Bray or Greystones and head in from there

I've heard of a bus from Wicklow or possibly Arklow that runs to the Sandyford Luas stop could be worth a look

punctuality and reliability on the morning Arklow (Gorey) service is excellent. the evening service is often late arriving into Bray and Greystones (probably because it originates in Maynooth and get stuck behind DARTs in the city centre) but I imagine it makes up the time from there on.

the bus you refer to is from Wicklow, not Arklow (run by Bus Eireann).

Checking my timetable I find a 0645 Gorey / Dundalk that runs Monday to Saturday. So which timetable r u looking at Marko?

Most prople i know make the trip to greystones then park and ride.
Its dual carriageway all the way to the Delgany turn off and traffic is moving at a good pace. Once Charlesland is fully developed parking may become tighter at the town.

06.45 Gorey, 07.01 Arklow does indeed run Mon-Sat, it's the evening return (17.25 from Connolly) that is Mon-Fri.

17.25 from Connolly departs Maynooth at 16.59

Fair cop its the 17:31 return that doesn't run on Saturdays (edited to correct)

The bus is Wicklow and timetable is here http://www.buseireann.ie/site/your_journey/printed_timetable_pdfs/local/133a.pdf

7am departure arrive Sandyford 8:10, should be very easy make St Stephens Green by 8:40-8:45 (22 minutes by tram)

It all depends where you needs to get to

Its difficult coming through Delgany now as there's no direct turnoff from the N11 northbound. Drivers would need to come through Kilquade or Newcastle, AFAIK.

    By Bus Eireann
    Arklow- 07.15 08.30
    Busaras 08.55 10.05

Return services in the evening depart Dublin at 16.00, 17.45, 18.00, 19.00, 20.30

The Bus to Sandyford luas only goes from Wicklow and the through bus to the city is much quicker than changing to the Luas anyway.

the P&R in Greystones is rarely more than half full - most people going from Charlesland to the DART use the free shuttle bus.

that said - if I was driving from Arklow I'd continue on to Bray so I wouldn't be restricted to just getting the Greystones DARTs home (less than 1 DART in 4 goes to Greystones)

Trouble is though that parking in and around the Dart station in Bray can be problematic unless you're there really early.
