Have one coming up, the 5 competencies are:

    1. Analysis of Information

    2. Planning & Organisation

    3. Teamworking

    4. Interpersonal Effectiveness

    5. Initiative

I kind of have a broad idea of what examples to use for each one, but need a lot more stuff to fill/pad out the answers.

Anyone done one before? Any information on hand you could give me, is there anywhere online useful for this (I don't think so as I've had a small look).

Ah HR interviewing techniques, don't you love them. Just stick with examples, trawl through the past 5 years of your life, trying to remember every little good thing you did. Everyone's in the same boat (ie: ****ed) for this kind of crap, so note everything, no matter how small. It will all add up.

Also analyse everything for ways an interviewer could twist it. Always have a good defence prepared.

I don't think it's any harm having waffle prepared. Anyone with half a brain will cringe in response to it, but HR people will love it ;) If your answers are too concise, you could find yourself in a blank staring contest with awkward silence while waiting for the next question. If that does happen, don't get stressed out or freaked. It's often a stress test. I've had the blank stare technique used on me before after I'd waffled on for about 5 minutes as if beckoning me to keep talking. Don't, you'll only trip over yourself. Instead politely ask if there's any point they'd like you to elaborate on, or if they have further questions.

Resources for waffle - There should be a million and one books on this. Have a look in your nearby bookstore/library.

If you feel like fun later, try putting everything under these headings: "Win! Team! Execute!" ;)
