I want to track how long I'm online!!

I have been searching Google recently and I can't find what i am looking for, I am on an Internet "Flat rate" package and i need to record how long i spend connected to the connection so as to know how long i am spending online as I don't really want to go over my assigned hours (25 per month) I have tried writing it down but it is difficult to keep a proper track. Ideally it should be open-source freeware to download free ;) I am hoping there is something like it out there as Businesses must keep a track of how long employees are online for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for that Cremo, I'll consider it if a free one isn't there. I read once I think on the "Broadband" forum about something similar to this free to download. Anyone know of it?? :)

It's something the ISP's should really provide  .... it would be no big deal and I must admit save me from recording all my online time ......

I have my online times logged, day-by-day, for the past 5 years  ....

well, it passes the time doesn't it!!!! :p

AFAIK you can get stats with eircom.net.
they give you hours online along with amount downloaded...

I'm like over 700 hours :D (its mostly left running)

I presume you Broadband, I have only dial-up and a satellite one-way service from skydsl. It cost me over €100 for the last two months between dial-up charges which were over €70 and the Skydsl which amounted to slightly over €30 for the two months. As you can see I am keen to monitor how long i'm online as to keep costs down. A boards.ie addiction is a bad habit to kick let me tell you :D

Little free program called tick, pretty useful, compiles stats of your daily, weekly and monthly useage.

is there any way to track usage through a cable router that has multiple connections to it? The only other way I can see of tracking downloads is to install software on all machines and add up the usage of each but if one of these is an XBox 360 it's not possible!

Yes I'd like to know the answer to this question too. I'm sure its a basic network solution but, without intruding on privacy of my housemates, I'd like to know how much each is downloading so I can show them what the craic is if we go close to our limit. They sometimes don't understand the difference from downloading an mp3 to downloading multiple episodes of 'Lost'!!. It was easy when only 2 connected. just get stats from the Eircom website, compare against my own download stats from DU meter, or Crystal internet meter (Another good program for measuring net usage), and the difference was my mates. Now theres 3 connected and I can't do it this way anymore....
