I am not very good with computers so i have a question that one of you highly intelligent Boards members will easily be able to answer.

I got a dell computer in December and whenever i use google all of the words i have searched for appear under the search box. Its very annoying because there is about fifty entries and i dont like the idea of people seeing what i looked up (all above board in case your wondering). I am fairly dense when it comes to computer jargon and so on so i need idiot proof directions. Please help me.

hmm that sort of thing happened to me years ago on an old dell laptop (running windows95... thems were the days)

hate to be a pimp, but have you tried firefox? it's another browser.. a lot of people round these parts will vouch for it. if the issue goes away in firefox, then you know it's IE messing around :)

In internet options (where you deleted history) delete cookies and delete files. Should do the job.

You talking about the Google toolbar?
If so, just click on the Google logo and click "Clear Search History" on the dropdown... (see attached).

Just if people want to know to do this in Mozilla Firefox you would do:
Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Saved Forms -> Clear Saved Form Data
