Just looking for a weekend break?

IMHO it's almost always cheaper than a package, esp when you have kids to feed.

whats wrong with a package holiday? I never have a problem when i go on them.. i just try and avoid the main places and stay somewhere a little quieter.
Your best bet though if you want a holiday in france MIGHT be ferry there.. and drive and stay at a camp site.. French camp sites are like massive holiday resorts.. not fields with communal showers like we have.

www.supervalugetawaybreaks.com are doing breaks to France in May and June, 1 weeks accomodation only in a holiday chalet sleeps 6 - 8 people for €299.

Forgot to add you have to collect tokens, 1 token per €10 spent in Supervalu but you can book a break before the collection card is full. Just pick up a card and book

If your family would be interested in south western France, namely Pau, I happen to have a townhouse I just started renting. I know you can't advertise here so I won't. Ryanair flies daily from Stansted to Pau and 3 times a week from Dublin to Biarritz which is an hour's drive from Pau. Just bought a flight for myself for early March and paid 50 e return, not bad, eh? The coast is very expensive all the time but if you go a bit inland, like Pau you get very reasonable prices and you get to experience authentic French living. One hour from the ocean, an hour from the mountains, plenty of things for the kids to do... I lived in Pau for 7 years so I know what I'm talking about. I miss it already...
If anyone would like to know more, just ask... I'm a bit hesitant about telling more of what kind of accomodation I propose... This is not commercial, just a private person trying to make use of the empty place over there...
    A+,

Just came back from France last week.
Flew to Beauvais with Rainair with the wife and 2 kids (€166.04).
Return bus to Paris (€13 each, €52 total).
Metro to hotel in Bussy Saint George (€4.50 X 2, kids under 4 free, no one checks - €9).
    Four nights in hotel (booked on hotels.com) @ €45 night + charges - €197.20).
Spent one day in Eurodisney, one day in Paris, two days arsing around.

Total for 4 of us for 5 days - €424.34 + spending money...
