Solar powered central heating

Iam just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to use solar power to run a central heating system as an alternative to oil central heating. And what would the estimated costs involved be?

    No not practically
Think about it, when the need for heating is greatest the sun is lowest in the sky and the days are short.
You could concievably use evacuated tubes but it would be horrendously expensive as the tubes are so expensive, and the payback would be too long.
