Does anyone know if there is a ferry company that goes from Dublin to Liverpool which allows foot passengers only.

All i can find is that you must have a car

Should be one from dublin port, I've definitely been on it (possibly 4 years ago?). They won't necesarily allow foot passengers on all year round due to tide levels getting onto the boat or something like that.

Think it was something like 35quid one way when I got it, will see if I can google up a web link...

    P&O are vehicle only.

Norse Merchant take vehicles and foot passengers.

Both are conventional ferries and the trip takes 8 hours. Norse Merchant go to Birkenhead which is a 15 minute train ride to the cente of Liverpool.

Isle of Man Steam Packet/SeaCat used to do a fast ferry but that has been discontinued, you could possibly go Dublin -IOM, IOM-Liverpool with them.

Unless you really want to spend 8 hours on a ferry the best route by sea is Dublin/DunLaoghaire - Holyhead and train from there to Liverpool. it is quicker than the direct ferry (about 5 hours on fast ferry and train) and there are more sailings.

The fare to Liverpool is €66 return with either of them.

I would recommend Stena Line, the HSS is much less prone to cancellation than Irish Ferries catamaran and DunLaoghaire is easier to get to than Dublin Port.

Last September I got the Steam Packet SeaCat with a couple of friends as foot passengers. It leaves from Dublin Port at 1pm on saturday and arriving in Liverpool at 5pm. Leaves on s Sunday morning at 8am.

Check to see if its still going in the winter, not so sure if it is.

    Stena do Dublin-Holyhead, or Belfast-Liverpool.

Depending on your dates, you might just be better off flying Ryanair - can get it for €55 return for some dates in March.
