    Hi,

I am looking for information on moving to and working in Canada and my options for a working Visa. I know I can apply through USIT...anyone else know of the process/my options.

    Appreciate any help!

This site should have all the information you need for citizenship. The USIT page for the Canadian Student Visa Programme can be found here.

I have found Canadian government officials to be very poor in handling requests at the best of times. And I won't even mention the Quebec Provincial Government.

The best piece of advice that I can give you is that you should book a return ticket to Canada if you are thinking of applying when on Canadian soil (with a work visa, this shouldn't be a factor).

I nearly fell foul of this when I flew from Belfast to Toronto in September.

    Short version:
When I booked the ticket, I called Canadian Immigration and I was told that a single ticket would be adequate, as I was going to state my case at Immigration in Toronto.

At Belfast Airport, I was barred from boarding the plane after an airline official questioned my story and phoned up Canadian Immigration, who proceeded to tell her that no, I could not enter the country without a return ticket.

After I ordered and printed out a single ticket from Toronto to Belfast (two painful hours later), I was allowed to board.
When I reached the Immigration desk in Toronto, I asked an official whether I was in the right or the wrong. I was in the right, apparantly.

Sorry for the long story, but it might come in useful for you.
