I assume most have noticed this "informative channel" is fta on Hotbird.
All I can say is watch the news and make your own opinion as to its content.
Its 525 ntsc so it may flicker mad depending on the receiver you have.
    Enjoy, its an eyeopener....

Is it the same one as is Encrypted on 15W?

    What freq/Pol/SR?

I don't do scans that often on the Hispasat, Hotbird, Astra 19E and Astra/Eurobird 28E as it takes soo long to delete all the dross afterwards.

Its the old faithful AFN package encrypted in powervu but for some "odd" reason this channel like on 15W is FTA. I wonder why???
As for powervu, its a watertight system and only way to watch the other channels is to join up!
I had a powervu box and it wouldnt open anything without over the air authorisation so I sold it on...

The 15W is marked FTA but I get no picture or audio.

I'd say it's a mistake. Live DOD briefing at the mo. Still marked as encrypted so I'd never have scanned (once in a blue moon I scan and check encrypted channels in case they arn't).

    Hi,
The only mistake is the content, not the encryption being turned off!
Anyway, some channels I see here on 4W are fta but theres a PowerVu flag coming up when I probe the transponder. I presume same is on this one.
Im using a DBOX2 here with what looks like a dreambox image modified, however NTSC flickers like mad with a green colour flashing on the screen due to the lack of software modding required... Anyway, happy viewing while it lasts.

I think if it is supposed to help troop moral, they are idiots.

There was an article about claiming payment for any protective clothing / body armour you might have purchased (claims open to surviving next of kin too).

What sort of modern army, the soldiers have to privately buy their own kit and claim back the money?

My TV does NTSC, so only the the slight flicker due to no doubt difference between 60Hz fields and 50hz "hum" leakage on PSU. Always a slight flicker on any 60Hz source.

Hi, I saw that one too, I also was stunned....
Check out the spray on smiles and wholesome patronising infomercials. Makes DAD2,5,6 whatever or that cbsNY feed so much more attractive to watch!

The flickering is down to my receiver rather than the video card, a nokia 9500 resolves this picture ok. Must be to do with the 30frames per sec and how the dbox2 cant handle it....
