Here's something I just found out about. Some of you probably know about it already, but for those of you who don't it looks interesting enough.
Basically it's poker software that lets you play over LAN/Internet with others for free, which means if you want to organise SNG's or tournaments with friends you can do it yourself independent of any online poker site. No rake or anything. There's no mechanism (I don't think) for passing money though, so that'd have to be done the old fashioned way. It costs $30, so not too eggs-pensive either.
Like I said, I just saw it now, haven't had time to try it out yet, so it might be crap, I don't know yet!:D
Oh yeah, you can also run simulations on it etc.

I had version 1.0 and bought version 2.0 when it was released. Have never used the LAN/Internet functionality, but apart from that it is a very good piece of software for what you pay for it $30.

You can design your own players and tournaments. Get advice based on various styles and much more.

Not sure now good the A.I. is as I regularly play a tournament with the same structure as the Boyle Sports one here in Limerick and win, never even close in the real world! You can read other opinions on the AI here

that would be pretty sweet to organise a lan poker party. Im on a college lan and know alot of people who would play but there is no way we are all going to be forking out $30

Am I missing something ... what is the difference between this and playing for play money on an online site? (other than you have 'private tables')

No you're not missing anything. That was the whole point. That you can organise private freerolls or a free heads up game. etc.

Well I suppose you could organise the money aspect of a private game via neteller - the big difference is that u don't pay any rake.

Cheers, and of course you will have the odd I.O.U ;)

Ye, that's inevitable I guess! But I suppose u could use one person's neteller account to hold the money from each person per game, and trust that person to dish out the winnings accordingly. Or something...:D

Hadn't heard about that, but it seems it's not rake free - you pay a monthly fee for tournaments and cash games.
