We are getting Sky pretty soon and I heard that we cannot get channel 4 and ITV. We have to get an aerial or something and I searched around the forums and found this page:

    http://www.shopireland.ie/electronics/detail/B0000TEV88/Sony-VTX-D800U-Freeview-Digital-TV/

Would this allow me to recieve these channels or is there more to it? Sorry for asking this stupid question but I cant find an answer.

If this doesnt do the job, what do I have to do? and can I buy the equipment online? Thanks to those who help.

    Cheers.

Not unless you live in a border area and can get a strong analoge signal from an external aerial. :(

But how do you get Channel 4? Does the freeview box above work? Thanks

You will be able to tune in ITV1, 2, 3 and 4 (as well as BBC3 and 4) through the "Other Channels" feature of the Sky box.

Channel 4 is encrypted and is not available to Sky subscribers in the republic.

The Freeview box you linked to is very unlikely to be able to pick up any UK channels in Swords, so buying it would most likely be a waste of money.

    Hope this helps.

ITV1-4 is available to digital satellite viewers, including Sky.

The only problem wiht Sky, is that to watch any ITV channel, you've to use a seperate "Other Channels" menu to access ITV, it won't be numbered along with the rest of the channels on the main programme guide.

You will need to buy a freeview card and change the card in your satellite box when you want to watch c4. should be able to find them on ebay.

The freeview box is unlikely to work, someone from swords might be in a better position to advise.
