-Life in the Undergrowth is amazing!

I'm only two chapters in and I'm already filled with amazement and wonder at the ingenious variety and complexity of invertebrates! There's also a good helping of really freaky things which appeal to some gruesome young fella I seem to share a brain with, like the giant sea scorpions and their scary relatives that survive today and the vicious bat-eating centipedes! I'm not in the least scared of insects, bugs or spiders but reading some of those bits gave me a chill! Whee! There's also lots of interesting stuff about very familiar creatures such as wood lice (they're crustaceans!) and harvestmen (more closely related to scorpions than spiders!). Seriously read it!
