I am the proud owner of a dell inspiron 9300. However I was reading recently that in order to keep your laptop/computer in good nick, amongst othre things, you should re-install xp every 6 months. Can anyone confirm this, and if so what would the best and most hassle-free way of doing this.

    No 5.5 months is better!

I wouldn't read to much into that. It all depends on what you put on your PC and how often. I know people who have had to reinstall XP after 1 month and some who haven't had to reinstall XP for years!

Depends. If you're installing and uninstalling a lot of progs you might find things get a lil messed up and a reinstall might be a solution.

But if you're careful and make sue you do full clean uninstalls and clean the reg, there shouldn't be any need to format and reinstall.

If you plan to reinstall frequently then imaging/ghosting might be an idea to save time.
