Is this just brilliant marketing from pokerstars ? It appears to have people multi tabling more than normal. At first glance the gifts in the store appear to be good. However the tv's aren't available in Ireland. I already have an ipod and a decent monitor. This really only leaves tournament entries as a decent gift. But you would be better off buying in directly using your rakeback from other sites. Any thoughts ?

I think it's good. Yes anyone who's a good player has a lot of the things because you can, um like buy them and stuff with winnings and stuff :) but they have even better chip sets now and poker tables and that porsche doesn't look too bad. I think the tourny entries are ok value considering that the FPP's are accelerated in the programme, like 13.5k for the Sunday tourny. I know some players who will reach platinum every month and they think it's very good, it could buy you in for the WSOP main event even. Also the freerolls are okay and will build up over the year, I played the silver one the week before last and it was like a ghostown with the number of players sitting out having registered during the week. Overall I think it's a great decision and marketing strategy as it will *absolutely* commit a lot of multinetwork players to the site and customer retention is what Stars does best. And gamblers do love free stuff :) I like the way they even shamlessly steal other sites' marketing concepts such as Green Tie Poker's concierge service. The lack of rakeback has always been an issue and you're right, but you know what I like about Stars players - they don't give a damn about rakeback :) Hooray for Pokerstars :) In answer, yes you would be better off financially with rakeback on another site, but hey you'd probably make more money as a rent boy too :)
