What to do with dead chip stack in home game?

We nearly had a situation last week where one of our home gamers had to leave a little earlier than expected. Luckily he was short stacked and he just went all in on the next hand, and lost. So no decision required. But it got me thinking - what if he had been a medium stack or, worse, chip leader.

How would you deal with this situation? You can't just remove the chips completely, as then they guy(s) who lost half his stack to this player is slightly annoyed that he doesn't get a chance to win it back, and you're playing with less chips at the table, so it's going to become a coin flip for certain players sooner than expected.

In the pro-organised games I play, a missing seat pays blinds every hand after the first level. This applies to someone who leaves the game also (1 full level of blinds later, they're paying bb every hand). It works okay when there's a dealer to look after it, not a roomful of drunken boobs and also, we knew this guy wasn't coming back.

this happened at one of our home games, we just divide the chips up amongsth the rest of the players, that way all the chips are still in the game... and everyone has a fair chance at winning them. i know this may not be the best way but in a 5euro home game between friends its the easiest.

In a home game - if someone has to leave early, firstly there should be at least 10 mins of taking the piss. Then his stack should be 'given' to the first person to rob it while no-one is looking:eek:
I usually find a spillage of some sorts distracts quite well...

That would be avery very strange rule.
There is no way that he should have to play the blinds if he is not due.
You are intitled to leave the table at any time and come back as long as you have chips. one of the pros did it at wsp this yearr, he was feeling sick, came down to table won a **** load of chips and stood up and went to bed, came back the next morning and playedon having lost very little in the blinds.

I remember that, wasn't it Layne Flack? He doubled up early on, then left. I think though he came back within a couple hours. I don't know if this rule applies in the WSOP, but something similiar to it must, maybe more levels, and considering blinds are what 45 minutes in the WSOP, that would give you a lot of time to recuperate.

Anyway, that's irrelevant. ditpoker, you just share them out evenly? Has a big loser to the dead stack never complained?

    Just take it away!

Here in my local card room they put out 9 to a table for any lateshows and blind them off for 1 level and remove them after that.
