Sky+ recordings question

    :confused:Hi all,
    would anybody know if and how i can send recordings on a Sky+ system to a TV in a different part of the house?

    Well... the contents of the Sky+ hard disk are encrypted (just like the transmission stream - in fact it is the transmission stream) so there's no current way to get the data out digitally.

    You could of course use a video sender to send the output video signal elsewhere, but that does tie up your Sky+ box, since it has only one video decoder.

    Is that what you mean?

    mmmmm just thinking again about it and what i wont to do will not work as i want to view the recording in the bedroom while the mrs watches a different channel on the same box?

    You can only watch the same channel as local TV elesewhere, via long scart, Videosender or RF coax.

    The transport stream has a 2nd encryption added so you can't even play back the FTA channels by putting the HDD in a caddy and plugging it in your PC.

    Does the copy option in the sky planner not send the programme to the video scart so as you can save stuff to video/dvd??

    If this is the case whats stopping you connecting a digi sender to the vcr scart??

    Does the copy function simply not lock all the controls till it is all played back to stop accidental messing it up?

    you could well be right, I never used the function but thought thats what it would do!! Then again knowing sky I should have known better!!
