I have a very good friend and I think he would be suited to a career in radio. Hes working at the moment after droping out of college. I was just wondering what course if theres any for him to do or is there any other ways around it.

    Thanks

    You're a good friend...

...Communications, Multimedia, Journalism... courses in Dun Laoghaire, Ballyfermot might also be advisable.

However, the main way to get into radio is by "paying your dues". Starting small - college, community or hospital radio - and then working your way up from there. As well as that, connections are vital. Radio is a fairly small, kinda insular industry and isn't, in my experience, something that you can casually step into really.

The problem is , is that he doesnt know what he wants to do, and when we tell him that he should try this or stand up he just passes it off. You should hear this guy hes hilarious. He didnt do that well in the leaving , do these courses require points.

I wanna work in radio....it's a dream that's soo never going to happen. I know some people in radio cos I did work experience. I think you need to hound the stations for work experience and get as much as possible....also some stations tend to look for people to drive their jeeps every so often. Your friend could try get in that way (if they can drive) and work their way up.
