I was and like the other poster said it's a very English resort. Play De Ingles is to the Irish as Las Americas is to the English. I had a great time in Tenerife but felt slightly more comfortable in PDI. Both resorts are very similar but the vibe is better in Gran Canaria.

I was in Playa Las Americas last summer and it was the best holiday Iv been on yet... Went with the bf and had a ball.. He's been to Ibiza twice and he reckoned it was just as good and way cheaper.. It is a bit crowded so it really depends on the sort of holiday your after if you get me... Its not the sechells (sp) by any stretch of the imagination but if your after hot sun, lots of booze or whatever takes your fancy and lots of loose lads/ladies and cant afford Ibiza then I would recommend it.. Puerto Del Cruze is a bit tamer from what Iv been told though, I think Las Americas is definately the more livlier of the resorts...

    Id definately go back anyway...

You're welcome :D word of advice though.. avoid Sound of Cream.. Its a rip off version of Cream and its dodgy as bejaysus... Tramps is the best of the clubs but doesnt really kick off till about 4am but theres a huge strip of bars to keep you occupied in the meantime.. :D

I went to Tenerife last summer. Best hol so far. I thought sound of cream was a big club wen i looked at it from the outside. It was really small though inside! AVOID THE LUCKY LUCKY MEN!!! U'll find urself broke at the end of the nite if u buy something off them!

I went in July and the temperature went up to over 30 degrees... It was very hot the whole time we were there.. Bring plenty of strong sun cream... And if you surf the waves are the biggest Iv seen without going to australia...

Taxis are fairly cheap... We were staying a couple of miles away from Las Americas beach and it was about €5 every time we travelled there and back...

I was in Playa de las Americas last April, weather was lovely, nightlife was good enough but there was a lot of brits around, but mainly older people coz it was in April. There wasnt any young louts around at the time.

Didnt have a need for taxis as everything is fairly central.

With regards to the presence of brits.. there were a lot of brits but in our experience they were a lot friendlier than some of the Dubs we bumped into tbh..

I have my week in Las Americas booked for this year anyway  ... Roll on July :D

Well like I said.. that was just Our Experience... Maybe we were just lucky but we got no hassle from any English, in fact we found them to be quite friendly.. where as some of the Dublin lads we saw were fairly rowdy..
