Can someone PLEASE tell me how to set my PYE DVD recorder up to record from my Pace Digibox. I have the recorder four months and still cant figure how to set it up.

Well... having done a quick check for PYE DVD recorders, I'll assume this one has 2 scart sockets.

The best way usually to set this up is connect the TV output from the Sky box into the input SCART, and then connect the output SCART on the DVD recorder to the TV.

This way the recorder has access to an RGB signal (assuming your digibox is outputting this), and you only use one TV socket.

However I wonder if your question is deeper than the cabling? I'm not familiar with this particular recorder. What difficulties have you had?

    Cheers,
This is what I've done. But it will only tune in the regular terrestrial channels. So I get RTE 1,2, BBC 1,2, UTV, CH4, TG4 and TV3. But nothing from the Digibox

    Hmmm... there's some confusion here.

Are you saying that you can record channels that you are receiving through the ariel? But not any digibox channels?

Sorry for this but... you do understand the different between a SCART and an ariel connection?

Under normal circumstances, you don't tune in a recorder to the digibox. You just choose the correct AV channel to record Sky. How you choose that depends on the recorder. I assume you can set things up so that you see on the screen what the recorder is seeing/recording? So maybe it's channel zero? Or is there an AV button on the recorder remote?

Is the digibox signal "passing through" the recorder properly? Based on your post, it sounds like when you power the recorder on, you lose the Sky signal and it switches to an ariel channel?

That's exactly what is seems like, its as if Iam losing the sky signal, I do know the difference between a scart and a aerial. Your also right about only being able to record from the aerial.

All I can suggest is that when the recorder is powered on you try to get the Sky signal back.

Have you tried to use the recorder remote to switch to the AV/SCART input? Does the manual explain how you do this?

This is often how VCR/DVDRs are configred. They power up on the internal tuner. Sometimes the default can be changed to AV1 or AV2, but there should always be a simple way to switch to the SCART port anyhow.

Some button like "AV" or "input select" or sometimes channel 0? Does the manual discuss this at all?

Three SCART leads ("fully wired types not cheap and nasty "Composite only")

One from Sky box to Recorder
    One from Recorder to TV
Third (optional) from Sky box directly to TV

No It dosent discuss it. I have the option of changing the Inout from Av\DV\ Ext 1\ Ext 2. I have pluged the scart from the Digibox into Ext 2 and set that up as the default Source. But as I've said I still cant get anything from the Digibox

    that setup should work

I have a PYE DVDR too, so I'll mess about with it & see how I go :D

    OK...

Well I suppose there is always the possibility that the recorder is faulty.

Let's see what else there is to try... Could this be an RGB issue? Could you try changing the picture setting on the digibox to PAL? Is there a setting on the recorder to choose between RGB/composite(PAL)? However if this was the problem, I'd expect the audio to work.

If the signal is successfully passing through the recorder, then it seems that the cables are OK, and the digibox is OK.

What exactly comes up on the screen when you choose ext2? Is it just a blank blue screen?
Have you tried putting the SCART into EXT1?
Do you have a SCART->yellow/red/white cable? which would allow you to test that port?

As a last resort, if the ariel connection passed through the digibox then it is possible for the digibox RF output to be tuned into. However if you can't get the scart to work then maybe you need to return the box.

I have the recorder set with Pal as standard. Could that be it

No, either PAL or RGB (no S-video or component on Digiboxes).
It may not work if SCART ON is not enabled in Digibox Services |setup | picture menu. Also set to 16:9. Or at worst 4:3L

I record on S-VHS in 16:9 mode. It doesn't know or care about WS. But I then set the TV manually to 16:9 on playback.

I've been trying to get this going too. I've a SCART from my Sky+ to my DVD recorder but when I select the Scart as the Input Source on the DVD Recorder, I get the picture from the Sky+ box, but no sound. (I've put a DVD in to play and the sound is fine so before anybody suggests, the sound is not MUTEd :)
    )

    Any ideas?

I checked the remote and there is no AV button

    get a different remote :D

    no seriously...
I fiddled about for ages with a similar problem.
once I told the DVDR what source to go to it was ok.

    mine was the AV button.
check if you have a source button.

Just for the record, I set up a 4kus DVDR last night with no problems... and yes the relevant button for me is called source. I can choose between TV tuner, DV in, or SCART (which is connected to the TV out (RGB) of the digibox).

Picture quality is superb on 1hr and 2 hr.

Only problem is that the auto-sleep doesn't seem to work after a recording completes, which is a little annoying. Liteons seem to have a similiar problem.

get that too sometimes , not entirely sure what it is. Never occured during a timed record though. Did it still record what you wanted, or did it mess it up completely?
