I've got some strange problem when trying to burn cd's lately. They are just data cd's, full of mp3's but sometimes I get this error and I have to restart which usually sorts it. annyoing as hell though, anyone know why this happens?

Also, can anyone recommend a decent CD & DVD Burning suite? Somehting straightforward and easy to use? What does everyone here use and are you happy with it?
    Thanks

Personally I wouldn't touch CD-RWs...dodgiest format I've ever used....I can't count the amount of info I've lost as a result of them (years ago)...get yourself a USB pen drive

Personally I use Nero, came free with a drive. Prefer it to Roxio which we use at work. Because your problem is randonm and works when you try a second time, I'd suspect that the CDR can't get data fast enough. Try burning at a slightly slower speed or, making sure you maximise you memory and have nothing else running when you are buring. Some CD Burners have protections against these kinda errors.

But it could be anything unless you tell use more about the drive and the spec of the machine that you are using.

The problem happens when I right click on a file and SendTo > CD Drive - it then gives me that error.

    The drive is a NEC +-RW ND-3530A - the PC is a Dell Dimension 5000 P4 3.4, 1GB ram, Win XP Home.

Your spec shouldn't have any problems. Try nero for a while and see how you get on.

I use Nero Burning ROM, version 5, that came with my CDRW drive.

Never gives me any problems. I find the Windows CD Writing Wizard too dodgy.
