    Monday 23rd January.

    Daldini 1.30 Wetherby, SP fcast 12/1. Owner Paul Dixon has switched trainers (from J Osborne) to Sue Smith for his hurdle campaign. His debut over hurdles looks like solid form: 2/17 behind Gidam Gidam at Doncaster (not one of Smith's better courses). Sue is top trainer here and although Daldini ran mainly over shorter distances, his dosage profile suggests his first run was no fluke against some fairly decent ex flat stayers last time:

    DP = 10-3-6-1-4 (24) DI = 2.00 CD = 0.58

    Sue's average SP of her winners here is about 9/2 - but the market principles all run with penalties. Has won on heavy going and looks good EW value.

    Banker of the day is Morgan Be 1.10 Ayr. The spf of 2/5 is optimistic given the exposed and weak opposition. Ayr maestro Dobbin takes the ride, not a tip but i wouldn't lay it or bet against it.

    Akarem 2.10 Ayr spf 4/6 is one of the few [100]+ rated flat stayers to go hurdling this year and is stepped down in class for his 3rd attempt after 2 promising efforts. He'd be far better with his nuts chopped off but really should win this race.

    Turbo 3.50 Ayr spf 4/1f Has been passed around a bit and again has a first run for Easterby in a handicap - a wise move imo because he has met some useful novice hurdlers recently and has ran well enough on the flat this year.

    Fitness is a ? but the trainer is in great form with horses priced less than 10/1 in the last 2 weeks: 11/2-won; Evens-won; 5/2-3rd; 6/1-won; 100/30-2nd and 11/2-won.

    good luck xx
